Personally, I consider 'Love is Love' to be a weak argument, for two reasons. First because love can exist where consent cannot, and we don't or shouldn't approve of those relationships(re: zoophiles, pedophiles, necrophiliacs).

Second because consenting relationships can exist where love does not. Be they casual sexual engagements or nontraditional marriages.

tl;dr: Consent > Love

I consider love is love true because pedophiles sometimes DO get consent... but when they don't it isn't love, its rape. there is a difference

Consent is more than being able to say 'yes,' it's the physical, mental and lawful ability to give permission. Children do not fulfill the last two.

As I said, I do not care if two people who do not love each other has sex. I do care if one is unable to consent.

Well, the law is not always right. Also many children are able to comprehend the implications of sex, so therefore it can be considered love. If they don't understand and you take advantage of it then it obviously is lust, not love.

I disagree. A pre-sexual child will never understand sex mentally or emotionally. And claiming it's just lust is more subjective than analysis of human development.

And, again, there is nothing wrong with lust imo. I don't care if people who don't love each other have sex.

By child I mean a legal child, as in under 18. But a child or teen if you will can comprehend it. Also when I said that if they don't understand then it is just lust I meant using their innocence and lack of knowledge on the subject as a way to use them for lust only. I agree that sex can be had if they consent and after thinking on this I realize that both of us have valid points.

The age of sexual consent is not 18 in most places, based on when psychologists think that people reach an age where they have and understand sex and sexuality. It's usually between 14 and 16. The line isn't clear but I think it's more clear than what 'love' is and trying to legislate around love. :)

Or, to wish the best for said individual because they are human.

Were you to ask a hundred different people what love is, you'd get a hundred different answers. None with more pulling power than the rest.
